I chose this typeface for it’s tall letterforms with bold strokes and slanted extenders which, to me, scream modernity and newness. When drawing the steaming cup illustration, simplicity and curved lines were at the forefront of my thoughts. Modern Design meets The Café--it has attached itself to the side claiming the café as another of its children and forming an evolved version of the coffeehouse experience.
Twelve colors designate a different color per roast variety. Black text on the box design indicates a regular roast while white text signals decaf. Shades of brown, orange, grey, and purple denote the darker, heavier roasts while lighter colors like yellow, peach, green and sky blue mark the lighter roasts.
One consistent brown is used on every package. The third background color is a half-and-half blend of the base brown and the changing variety color. Red, white, and black provide legible contrast on all of the varying color labels.
“Bouillon-cube” styled coffee blocks contain precise measurements of compacted gourmet instant coffee granules. ModCafe appeals to both the casual instant coffee drinker and the experienced coffee connoisseur by offering the choice of pre-measured gourmet roasts available in the comfort of one’s home.
